The honest part: our role, cost, and how this works
Our guidance costs your family nothing, and we are not a care agency — services are delivered by the independent agency you hire. In-home care in this area typically runs about $30 to $38 an hour, with lower effective rates on longer shifts. Agencies we refer to may pay us a referral fee; it doesn't change your rate or which agency we think fits you best.
Questions families ask
How few hours can we start with?
Many agencies here have a three or four hour minimum per visit. Starting with two mornings a week is completely normal, and it often makes the next step easier for everyone.
Will Medicare pay for a caregiver at home?
Medicare pays for intermittent skilled home health — nursing or therapy ordered by a doctor — not ongoing help with bathing, meals, or companionship. Those hours are usually private pay, VA benefits, or long-term care insurance.
What if my dad doesn't want a stranger in the house?
That's the most common objection we hear. We usually suggest starting small with a specific task he'd actually appreciate — a ride, a shower assist, help with the yard — and building from there.
